Observing

The Common Room:

Think and Feel: Its an ugly room, not a lot of natural light. Feels to hard trying to be relaxing and   fun, in a cold sterile room.

Hear: People gossip, talk about every day lives, complaining about the amount of work for uni.

See:People are eating lunch, either take away from tussock or brought from home. they sit and socialise in the bean bags, or chairs. Some with there laptop out doing work while chatting.
There tend to be a few little groups of people who hang out, maybe just waiting for there next class or hanging out after class.

Say and Do: Students are jus sitting round making themselves comfortable as the chairs and teabags can make them. as not a huge amount of people at this time people are more themselves.

User needs: a place to relax, a place to connect, a place to make friends.

Insight: The common room is a good space for students to relax, but it doesn't look like the university has put on any efforts to create the environment to be natural and welcoming.

Student Central:

Think and Feel: People come in nervous and tend to come out a little bit happier, or even more frustrated. There seems to be some confusion.
'Are we going to sort out my timetable'

Hear: People talking about university timetables and papers, getting advice on papers. sorting out personal issues that have effected uni work.

See: Students walk in to the place and go straight to the reception, and wait for someone to see them and help them out. The go to the desks on the right from the door when someone can see them.

Say and Do:

User needs: Help me, guide me, do it for me.

Insight: Its not a space to socialize but for people who have issues with there work to sort them. But its a safe environment for them to deal with issues at uni.
