Presenting our ideas and receiving feedback

During class we got into 3 groups and shared our ideas so far for our project. We received great feedback using the i like, i want, i wonder, technique.

Like:
  • teach me how to adult
  • fresh/ interesting ideas for clubs
  • focusing on the right things for clubs for introverts
  • focusing on making the introverts feel comfortable
  • promoting the clubs
  • taking an exiting problematic thing and improving it.
Wish:
  • Consider the whole campus and not just Coca
  • step out of the 'designers' comfort zone
  • there was a way of knowing about the new clubs (advertising/ promoting them)
  • new way of describing "club"
  • think more about facilitating
  • running it independently
  • having the club without the commitment
  • find out the core important problem to why people don't facilitate the clubs already provided at Massey
Wonder:
  • can the structure of clubs be changed (e.g. not having to sign up)
  • informal structure of clubs
  • clubs without commitment
  • pressure with study vs commitment to the clubs (tensions)
  • take out the less desirable aspect of clubs which is the commitment
  • is the commitment necessary for a club?
  • create a consistent feeling without physically being there
  • facilitated by students - will it bring introverted people in if extroverts are running it and vice versa
  • make it official but not official
  • calm
  • take out the signing/ joining process
  • online (facebook, etc) sharing?

Class discussion/ good points from others feebdback

  • cooking lessons of first years (first years come to learn and second+ years come to teach and share this experiences)
  • look at what Massey does already and add value to it to facilitate the users needs.
  • create a solution that works within Massey's limitations (space, costs, etc)
  • add a facilitator? (e.g. apple's genius's in the apple stores)
  • people want to do something but not if it is forced
  • needs to benefit the students
  • needs to be a meaningful experience for the students
  • american university vibe?
  • facilitate valued interactions within the space
  • look beyond university, clubs, etc and see what other people are doing and reformat them not your own
